Marta De Luca graduated in Physics in 2011 and got the Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2014 at Sapienza University of Rome. During the Ph.D. she investigated the optical properties of semiconductor nanowires, for which she was awarded the “Piero Brovetto Prize” by the Italian Physical Society. De Luca currently holds a Post Doc position at the University of Basel. Her research focuses on Nanophononics, that is the manipulation of crystal lattice vibrations at the nanoscale. This manipulation aims at boosting the thermoelectric properties of NWs, that have a major impact on the recovery of waste heat.
